Who doesn’t love a puppy? With their cute faces and wet noses, many find them great to care for. roof leaks . It may look like great fun to take care of a puppy, but it actually entails a lot of responsibility and attention to detail.

The dog population grows each year with about five million new puppies in the United States alone. This is remarkable, as a third of American families own dogs. Female dogs carry their puppies in their wombs for about two months before they are born. The typical puppy comes without a sense of hearing, seeing, and with limited smelling capacity. Puppies’ eyes stay closed in their first two weeks from birth. A puppy would only be able to fully see once four weeks old. The puppy’s senses of smell and hearing take faster to develop. Puppies, like other animals, start with temporary teeth, beginning in their third or fourth week. Puppies have 42 permanent teeth which begin to appear by their fourth month. Your puppy would need chewable toys to properly develop their teeth. Puppies need to quickly lose their temporary teeth, so having them have something to chew on would help.

Puppies are most comfortable when snuggled up close to their siblings and their mother. A puppy, ideally, would need about eight weeks before being separated from its mother and its siblings and being allowed to socialize with non-related dogs and its human owners.

Be very careful when buying a new puppy for yourself. It’s not just important to consider one’s needs, but also those of the owner’s family and neighbors. Neighbors hate puppies who run around causing trouble and mischief. A puppy’s owner should be more sensitive to the puppy’s comfort and well being. Pose questions to yourself before going out and buying a puppy. Is it important to buy your puppy a cage or pen to avoid dirtying up your backyard? Is your house too claustrophobic or perfect for the puppy you’re buying? Does your puppy need some extra recreation? This is because puppies are more active than adult dogs. A puppy can either be docile (well-behaved) or playful (usually hyperactive) – which would you prefer? Your puppy’s cleanliness and ease of maintenance should be thought of. You will need to budget things as some puppies need to eat a specific kind of food while young. Is your budget amenable to giving your puppy proper veterinary maintenance? Send your puppy to the vet by its second month for initial vaccines, and again by its fourth month for boosters.

Puppies are frisky and friendly and a lot of fun. Just give them the right care. Name your puppies in the same way you’d name other pets and call them often by name. Love your puppies almost in the same way you’d love your kids (if you have any) – give them enough attention and rewards. This way you can be rewarded in turn with companionship, friendship and love. Now this is what it really means to show puppy love.
