An old saying tells us that home is where the heart is. So, what about those that have no home, whose songs and melodious voices make our lives a little better each day? Wouldn’t it be wonderful if they had a beautiful home as well? Yes, we are talking about the birds whose melodies we wake to every morning and who warm our hearts. Many birds make a home on trees and inside shrubs. But, since humans like to keep birds as pets, they don’t make their own nest. And this is why birdcages were born. Since birdcages are the only homes we can provide for our feathery friends, why not make them beautiful for them?

It is always stressful to move from one place to another. Adjusting to new places is hard even on adults. Pets can suffer from the stress of moving too, especially if it is to a far place. Preparing your pet for the trip is needed to lessen the changes that can affect them. Dogs and cats are easier to transport because they are not very delicate pets. Birds are more complicated and fragile because they are used to being in the air or on perches. Transporting them can be difficult depending on how tame they are.

My husband’s birthday was coming up shortly so I decided to visit the High Street pet shops to buy him a parrot as he is a keen ornithologist. Our local store did not have much choice so I began to search the internet for birds for sale and found a superb site called buysellbirds.co.uk. They buy and sell all different types of birds, reading material and videos which explain how to look after them properly.

I’ve always loved parrots. An aunt of mine used to have one many years ago, I remember it from my childhood, it was very talkative and great fun. Since my husband died I have been quite lonely. Looking at some photographs the other day, sure enough there was one of me as a little girl next to the parrot in its cage. It brought back happy memories, so I decided to buy one.
